Ice climbing in the UK's muggy capital city? You heard right. The Vertical Chill ice wall offers the perfect alternative activity to take part in whilst visiting the big city.
London is known for its typical tourist attractions, extensive amount of shops and quirky markets, but who would have thought you could climb an ice wall, especially in the popular area Covent Garden?
The eight-metre ice wall is situated within a refrigerated unit and truly feels like you are on a real mountainside without the danger which that would involve. The wall ranges in steepness from flat parts to complete over-hangs, meaning there is a challenge for everyone dependent on what level you are at.
Sessions last for one hour and are one-to-one with an instructor, giving you plenty of time to learn the skills needed to climb the wall.
It is the latest craze to hit London; one minute you are on the cities streets and the next you are surrounded by Arctic temperatures. Learning to climb, the hour session and all your equipment costs just £50, which is fairly reasonable for London prices.
Once you have worked up an appetite, head over to Circus restaurant, also located in Covent Garden, for a memorable evening meal and drinks (read our review here.)
