The Botanical Gardens in Sheffield have recently been fully restored at a cost of over six and a half million and is the only Botanical Garden in the UK to have undertaken such a big restoration - which makes it even more worth a trip when visiting the city.
Covering 19 acres worth of land, there are now 15 different garden areas on site featuring collections of plants from all over the world, including Mediterranean, Asian, American prairie-style, woodland and rock-and-water plantings.
On a summer's day, The Botanical Gardens are the perfect place to visit for a day out in the sun. With picturesque surroundings, taking a picnic with a group of friends would be ideal for those who love a chilled staycation.
Whilst wandering around the gardens you will come across the Curator's House Restaurant and Tea Rooms where you can stop off for a bite to eat if picnics aren't you're thing. You will also find The Little Nature Shop if you want to buy yourself or someone else a souvenir from your staycation in Sheffield.
The gardens also host a number of events throughout the year, including open-air music and theatre productions, art shows and plant sales. To find out more about the events taking place this year visit their website.
